André Laliberté

Biographie

André Laliberté is Professor of comparative politics at the School of Political Studies at the University of Ottawa since 2000, where he teaches on the politics of Asia and of China. He is the author of more than 50 articles and book chapters, about different aspects of domestic politics in China and in Taiwan. His research looks at the nexus between religion and social policy in the welfare regimes of East Asian societies and the extent to which philanthropy stands out as a liminal space between the secular and the religious. He would like to write a history of this intertwinement of the two as well as contribute to knowledge mobilization about useful lessons we can learn from East Asian societies.
